1) Teenagers and the “Teenage Culture”

2) Mud Houses and Modern Men: The Problem with Rock and Roll
This lecture was delivered to a group of high school boys in Northwestern United States. In a serious but entertaining way, Mr. Vennari, who used to play music for a living (including pop and rock'n'roll music) explains why he does not allow rock and roll in his house. Basing his words on what history’s great thinkers such as Aristotle, Plato and Boethius have said about music, he explains why rock and roll is disordered music that is harmful to both soul and body. The problem is not primarily the lyrics, but with the music itself! He cites studies done wherein plants died when they were exposed to rock music. Yet the same species of plant flourished when exposed – in the exact same conditions – to classical music. He also gives concrete suggestions of how to break the addiction to rock and roll. Also explains why the so-called “Christian rock” is an oxymoron. Listeners have described this as one of the most effective talks about rock and roll they have ever heard.
